Drywall Repair

Holes, cracks, nail pops, failed tape seams and water-damaged board — IntraBuild patches, feathers and sands them flush, so the wall disappears back into the room instead of standing out from across it. Every repair is left primed and paint-ready, whether you finish it yourself or hand it to our painting crew. Small jobs are welcome — a single nail pop gets the same careful patch as a whole ceiling. You get a written price before anything is cut, patched or sanded.

InsuredFully insured crew

IntraBuild repairs drywall across the GTA and Southern Ontario — from a single nail pop by the front door to a water-stained ceiling needing board cut back and replaced. Every repair is filled, taped, feathered and sanded until the patch disappears into the wall, then left primed and paint-ready. It's the same insured crew that installs our new drywall, so a room that's easier to re-board than patch stays with people who've done both. One written price, agreed before we cut into anything.

01
— what we repair

Holes, cracks, ceilings.

small patch to full ceiling

Holes & impact damage

Door-knob holes, kicked-in drywall, a moving mishap through the hallway wall — we back the hole with fresh board or mesh, fill in layers, and feather the edges until you can't find where it was.

Cracks, nail pops & corner bead

Hairline cracks over doorways, popped nails working loose, corner bead dinged or bowing — cut back to sound material, re-fastened or re-taped, and finished flush so it doesn't reopen with the next season.

Tape seams & joint failures

Bubbled or peeling tape, seams that show through paint, joints that separated as the house settled — old tape comes off, new mesh or paper tape goes on, and the seam is buried under fresh compound.

Water damage & ceilings

A slow roof leak, an overflowing tub upstairs, an old ice-dam stain — soft or stained board is cut back to dry, sound material, sealed with a stain-blocking primer, and patched or re-boarded overhead.

Backing board — support behind larger holes Mesh & paper tape — seams that won't reopen Feathered edges — patch disappears into the wall Stain-blocking primer — seals water marks for good Texture matching — knockdown, orange peel & smooth
02
— why walls fail

Settling, bumps, leaks.

every crack has a cause

Settling & truss lift

Every house moves a little as it settles and the seasons change — that's the hairline crack over a doorway or the gap where the ceiling meets the wall. Normal, and easy to patch properly.

Door knobs & moving day

A door swung too far, a couch corner on the way up the stairs, a dolly that clipped the hallway — the most common repair call we get, and usually the fastest to fix.

Plumbing leaks & ice dams

A slow leak behind a shower wall or an ice dam backing water into a ceiling both leave the same soft, stained board — the fix starts with the source, then moves to the drywall.

Renovation cut-outs left behind

Access panels an electrician or plumber cut and never patched, old thermostat holes, a wall opened for a since-finished project — we close them properly instead of leaving a picture frame to hide them.

03
— drywall repair cost

Three tiers, one written price.

per repair, before HST

The right price depends on what the repair actually needs — a quick patch, a torn-out section with new backing, or a stained ceiling that has to be cut back and sealed. As a guide, expect $120–650 per repair depending on tier, with a service-call minimum of $200, before HST. Pick the tier closest to your damage; a cost-by-job table sits below.

    What moves the number
  • Count & size — more repairs or a bigger hole add time.
  • Ceilings — overhead runs 20–30% above walls.
  • Water — source must be fixed first.
  • Texture & paint matching — knockdown and colour blending add a step.

Every repair price covers the patch, tape, sanding and a prime-ready finish, with no separate travel fee. A typical single-repair visit sits around the $200 minimum. These are guide ranges before HST — a free written quote sets the exact price once we've seen photos or visited the site.

04
— the repairs we see every week

The calls we get most.

familiar damage, fixed properly

Moving-day wall damage

A dresser that caught the hallway corner, a mattress that scraped the stairwell — move-in week is our busiest week for patch calls, and most of these are done in a single visit.

Basement reno cut-outs

A finished basement with an old furnace-inspection cut, a speaker-wire hole that was never closed, a panel an electrician opened last year — leftover openings from someone else's project, closed properly.

Upstairs bathroom leak through the kitchen ceiling

A stained ring spreading across the kitchen ceiling almost always traces back to the bathroom overhead — once the source is confirmed fixed, we cut back the wet board and rebuild the ceiling clean.

Century-home plaster cracks

Older Ontario homes move differently than new builds — plaster and lath crack in their own pattern. We know when to patch in drywall and when to work with the plaster instead of fighting it.

05
— repair or replace?

Patch it, or re-board it.

matched to the damage, not upsold
Patchable · most repairs
The damage is contained
Holes, cracks, nail pops, a failed seam or two — if the board itself is still sound, a proper patch feathers into the wall and holds for good. This covers the large majority of the calls we get.
Board replacement · water & larger damage
The board has to come out
Soaked, sagging or crumbling drywall can't be patched over — we cut back to sound material, hang new board, tape and finish it so the repair is invisible once painted.
Full re-board · when a room's beyond repair
Sometimes new drywall wins
Old, cracked-everywhere plaster, water damage across a whole ceiling, or a room mid-renovation — at some point stripping to the studs and re-boarding costs about the same as chasing endless patches. That's our drywall installation service, and we'll tell you honestly when it's the better call.
06
— working with IntraBuild

Small jobs, done properly.

no job too small

Small jobs welcome, scheduled fast

A single patch doesn't sit at the bottom of the list behind bigger renovations — repair calls get their own fast scheduling, because most homeowners want the hole gone this week, not next month.

Dust control — poly & vacuum sanding

Sanding drywall compound makes fine dust that travels — we section off the work area with poly and sand with vacuum-attached tools wherever we can, so the rest of the house stays clean.

Insured crew, one written price

Every repair is priced and agreed before we start — no surprise add-ons once the wall is open — and carried out by a fully insured crew, the same one that builds our new drywall installs.

Paint-ready handoff, or we finish the paint

Every patch leaves sanded smooth and primed, ready for your painter — or ours. If you'd rather not match paint yourself, our interior painting crew can blend the repair in the same visit.

07
— how a repair comes together

Photos to paint-ready.

six stages, most in one visit
1

Photos & written quote

Send photos or book a visit — for most repairs we can quote from clear photos alone, sized by tier, before we ever pick up a tool.

2

Protect the room

Floors and furniture get covered, poly seals off the work area, and drop sheets catch dust and debris before the first cut goes in.

3

Cut back & back

Damaged board is cut back to sound material and backed — with a backing board, mesh or new framing — so the patch has something solid to hold onto.

4

Patch & tape

New board or filler goes in, seams are taped with mesh or paper tape, and the first coats of compound go on.

5

Feather & sand

Compound is built up in thin coats and feathered wide, then sanded smooth until the patch is impossible to find by hand or by eye.

6

Prime-ready walkthrough

A stain-blocking primer goes on where needed, we walk the repair with you, and you're left with a wall that's ready for paint the same day.

Most repairs move through all six stages in a single visit — a water-damaged ceiling may need a short second trip once the compound has cured. Either way, it's the same crew start to finish.

08
— drywall repair FAQ

Asked, answered.

the questions owners ask first

How much does drywall repair cost in the GTA?

Most repairs run $120 to $650 depending on tier — a small patch at the low end, a water-damaged ceiling section at the top — with a $200 service-call minimum, before HST. A free written quote from photos or a visit sets the exact number.

How fast is a repair, and is it one visit?

Most patches, cracks and nail pops are done in a single visit — cut, backed, taped, feathered, sanded and primed the same day. Larger jobs, or anything needing compound to fully cure between coats, may need a short second visit.

Can you match my wall's texture?

Yes — knockdown, orange peel and smooth finishes can all be matched so the patch blends into the surrounding texture rather than standing out as a flat spot once it's painted.

I have water damage — do you handle insurance, and what about the leak itself?

We repair the drywall; the source — a roof, plumbing, an ice dam — needs fixing first, by us or your plumber or roofer, or the stain comes back. We can provide photos and a written scope for your insurance claim, but we don't process claims directly.

Do ceilings cost more than walls?

Usually, yes — working overhead is slower and often needs bracing or a platform, so ceiling repairs typically run about 20–30% above the same repair on a wall.

Is painting included?

The repair itself is left primed and paint-ready, but painting isn't included in the price. If you'd like the patch blended in and the whole room refreshed, our interior painting service can pick it up in the same visit.

Is a single small hole worth calling a pro for?

For most homeowners, yes — a proper patch, backed, taped and feathered, holds for good and disappears under paint, where hardware-store spackle often shows as a flat spot later. With a $200 minimum either way, it's worth doing once, properly.

When does it make sense to repair versus install new drywall?

If the damage is contained — a few holes, a cracked seam, one stained ceiling — repair is faster and cheaper. Once a room has damage in several spots, old cracked-everywhere plaster, or damage across most of a ceiling, full re-board through our drywall installation service usually costs about the same and leaves a cleaner result.
