Drywall Installation
for Oxford County

Plant towns build steadily, and steady building needs boarders. Woodstock's Toyota payrolls and Ingersoll's CAMI lines keep family subdivisions growing — and keep us finishing their basements and boarding their new main floors — while the county's other face, the dairy farms and Mennonite country around Norwich, Tavistock, Drumbo and the Zorra villages, brings farmhouse additions and tall-ceilinged country builds. Tillsonburg rounds out the south. The oxford county drywall installation we deliver is hung, taped and sanded by one local crew, with the price worked out per square foot and put in writing first.

Oxford County's drywall work follows its paycheques and its land. In Woodstock — county seat, Dairy Capital of Canada, the junction of the 401 and 403 — the Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant anchors a family-housing market where subdivisions go up fast and their basements get finished a few years later, while the older streets add Victorian brick whose plaster has quietly reached the end of its life. Ingersoll tells the same story with a GM badge: CAMI families in century homes downtown and new builds on the edges, main floors boarded to spec and lower levels finished room by room. Tillsonburg brings its own mix of established family homes and growing streets in the county's south. Surrounding all three is some of Ontario's richest farm country — Norwich, Tavistock, Drumbo, Plattsville and the Zorra villages of Embro and Thamesford — where farmhouse additions, re-boarded century rooms and tall-ceilinged country builds are the standing orders. One crew serves the whole county on one written per-square-foot price, no travel fee by design, and the person who quotes your job is the one standing on your site to do it. If a "drywall installation near me" search brought you in from Woodstock, Ingersoll or the townships, this is your page — the broader method lives on our drywall installation services page, and everything here is Oxford County's.

01
— the job, complete, anywhere in Oxford County

Board on, bead on, coats on.

each stage done properly

Hanging drywall

Sheets go up square and tight — walls and ceilings both — with joints offset row to row and cutouts fitted close around every outlet, window and fixture.

Taping & corner bead

Seams disappear under paper or mesh tape, and outside corners get real bead — metal or paper-faced — so a hallway corner still looks sharp after ten years of family traffic.

Screw spotting

Each sheet takes about 28–32 screws in a staggered layout, sunk just past flush and coated over — no shiners, no shadows through the paint.

Finishing to a level

Three coats of mud at minimum, feathered progressively wider, then a controlled-dust sanding that lands the surface exactly on Level 3, 4 or 5.

Standard 1/2" — living areas, walls & ceilings Moisture-resistant — around baths & laundry Fire-rated 5/8" Type X — attached garages & code walls Sound-dampening — bedrooms & home offices Sag-resistant ceiling board
02
— Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg & the farms

Plant towns & farm country.

two economies, one crew

Woodstock — Toyota's county seat at the 401/403 junction, Victorian brick, downtown & hospital, fast-growing family subdivisions

Woodstock grows the way plant towns do: steadily, subdivision by subdivision. A few years after each phase sells out, the basement calls start — framed lower levels boarded with moisture-smart panels by the bath and laundry, sanded smooth beneath pot lights, priced by the square foot. Downtown is a different century entirely; the Victorian brick streets of the Dairy Capital keep us converting cracked plaster to flat new board, one careful room at a time.

Ingersoll — CAMI's 401 town between Woodstock & London, century homes downtown, new-build streets on the edges

Ingersoll pairs one of the county's older downtowns with some of its newest streets. For the century homes that means renovation boarding — walls opened for wiring or insulation, then closed up flat and paint-ready. For the new builds and additions serving CAMI Assembly (GM) families it means whole floors hung, taped and sanded to the level you choose. Same crew, same written square-foot number, nothing extra for the drive.

Tillsonburg — the county's south, established family streets, retirees & growing subdivisions

Tillsonburg's housing skews toward settled family homes, with newer streets steadily filling in around them and the town's tobacco-and-agriculture past still in its bones. Main-floor renovations, basement finishes and additions carry the schedule here, with a Level 5 skim on offer wherever pot lights or big windows would expose anything less. Every job is priced per square foot, in writing, before board arrives.

Norwich, Tavistock & the dairy townships — Drumbo, Plattsville, Embro & Thamesford farmhouses, additions & country homes

Dairy country is generous to drywallers and hard on shortcuts. Farmhouse rooms are rarely square, additions have to marry old structure to new framing, and the country builds across Blandford-Blenheim, East Zorra-Tavistock, South-West Oxford and Zorra — a deep Mennonite and agricultural community — like their ceilings tall. We board them plumb regardless, tape and sand to the level each room needs, and keep the dust away from the parts of the house still being lived in. Norwich to Thamesford, the square-foot price holds.

03
— what installs cost across Oxford County

Area times rate — that's the quote.

no flat-rate guessing here

Drywall installation pricing in Oxford County is refreshingly mechanical: measure the board area, apply the level's rate, write it down. Turnkey — supplied, hung and finished, with no separate travel fee — that works out to roughly $2.00–$5.50 per square foot. An Ingersoll new-build main floor taken to a Level 5 skim under big windows reaches the top of the range; a straightforward Woodstock basement finished for everyday paint stays nearer its floor. The four price movers
  • Finish level — decisive; Level 5 takes ≈ double the labour of Level 4.
  • Ceiling height & access — tall farmhouse ceilings and awkward stairs eat hours.
  • Board type — specialty moisture, fire and sound sheets outprice plain 1/2".
  • Project size — footage brings the rate down; tiny jobs land on the minimum.

One rate buys the entire sequence — delivery, hanging, tape and bead, spotted fasteners, a three-coat minimum, sanding to your level, and a clean site every evening. Board already in your garage? Labour-only starts around $1.50/sq ft — roughly $30–70 per 4×8 hung and finished. Ranges guide, the written quote decides — your exact drywall install cost is fixed free before a single sheet leaves the stack.

04
— the three finishes, plainly

Pay for the level the room needs.

no more, no less — Oxford County wide
Level 3 · standard
Honest utility
Joints and fasteners coated, the field left lightly textured. Beneath sprayed texture, wallpaper or industrial-strength paint it reads perfectly — garages and utility rooms need nothing further.
Level 4 · most chosen
The everyday spec
Adds a coat and a finer sanding over Level 3, for walls that accept ordinary flat or eggshell paint without blotching. The default for kitchens, bedrooms and halls.
Level 5 · signature
The full skim
Compound floated across the entire face of the board, then sanded — so glancing light from a picture window or a pot-light row finds nothing to shadow. The feature-wall and tall-ceiling finish.

terms before tools

Written quote first

Your square footage becomes a fixed written figure — the same logic in Woodstock, Ingersoll or the deepest Zorra concession, because travel is never billed.

Dust controlled

We sand behind poly walls with vacuum-fed tools — compound dust stays with us, not on your furniture.

On schedule

Hanging, taping, coating and sanding days get calendared before we start — sequenced with your electrician, plumber and painter.

Insured & paint-ready

Liability coverage sits in place from day one, and the handover surface is flat, fastened and ready for primer.

06
— the order of operations

Stud to smooth.

no shortcuts anywhere in Oxford County
HangScrewTapeMudSand

Drywall rewards patience and punishes hurry: compound needs its drying time between coats, and every stage has to be checked before the next one starts. Boarding order is fixed too — ceilings first, so the wall sheets tuck beneath them and brace the ceiling's edges. In houses the sheets almost always run horizontal, keeping joints fewer and lower; standing them vertical belongs mainly to tall commercial partition work.

07
— drywall installation FAQ

Answered.

straight answers, no run-around

Is every Oxford County town covered — Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, the townships?

Every one. Woodstock as county seat, Ingersoll on the 401, Tillsonburg in the south, and the farm belt — Norwich, Tavistock, Drumbo, Plattsville, Embro and Thamesford — through the Zorra townships. No town here has a standalone city page yet; this Oxford County page carries them all.

Farmhouses and township additions — is that work you take?

Some of our favourite work. Around Norwich, Tavistock, Drumbo, Plattsville, Embro and Thamesford the jobs run to farmhouse additions, country customs and great rooms with vaulted or cathedral ceilings — boarded plumb, and skimmed to Level 5 where raking light would betray anything less. Old-meets-new framing and sloped ceilings are handled cleanly, taped and sanded to your level with the dust contained throughout.

Are Woodstock basements part of your bread and butter?

Very much so. With the Toyota plant keeping the family-housing market strong, finished lower levels lead our Woodstock bookings: framed rooms boarded, moisture-resistant panels near bathrooms and laundry, smooth ceilings under pot lights, taped and sanded to your level. Square-foot pricing applies, and a full basement generally comes in around $6,000–12,000+ turnkey.

What do Oxford County drywall installs actually cost?

Guide numbers, turnkey: $2.00–2.75 per sq ft at Level 3, $2.75–4.00 at Level 4, $4.00–5.50 for a Level 5 skim; complete basements mostly land near $6,000–12,000+. Footage, ceiling height and level shape the total — the free written quote makes it exact.

We're out in the townships — does the distance cost extra?

It doesn't. Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, Norwich, Tavistock, Drumbo, Plattsville, Embro, Thamesford — one written square-foot price everywhere, no separate travel fee. The county may sit west of the GTA on the 401 between Kitchener and London, but that stretch of highway never appears on your bill.

Ceiling board or wall board first?

Ceiling. The wall sheets then push up snug beneath it and help carry its edges — the joints turn out cleaner and stay stronger.

Roughly how many screws go into each sheet?

Plan on 28–32 for a 4×8 on a wall and more overhead on ceilings — staggered, and set just under the paper so the sheet draws flat without tearing through.

Searching "drywall installers near me" from Oxford — did I find them?

You did, if you're anywhere in the county. Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, and the dairy townships from Norwich to Thamesford — that search resolves here. Send your town and neighbourhood, and a drywall installer Oxford locals already book will confirm coverage and come measure.
